Also known as the Apricot Valley, Sham valley is located in one of the lower heights of Ladakh. This easy trek offers fabulous experience of walking through landscape that is completely different from the Himalayan trails in Himachal or Uttarakhand. Due to stark landscape surrounded by gorgeous mountain ranges, the trek gives a feel of walking on the moon!

A visit to Alchi Monastery, famous for its artwork, architecture, old and unique paintings, and huge Buddha statues is an experience worth cherishing, on this trek .
You will also pass through quiet Ladakhi hamlets on this trek where you will get to see the charming and languid pace of life. Despite its short duration, the trek packs great adventure and thrill for beginners as well as the experience. The best part about the trek is that it may be done throughout the year, even during winters when several treks become inaccessible in Ladakh. The Sham Valley Trek lets the trekkers discover the local Ladakhi village life and gorgeous views of monasteries perched atop hills.

Depart for Leh by air in the morning. On arrival in Leh transfer to hotel. Day at leisure for rest and acclimatization. ( Altitude : Approx. 11,500 feet ). O/N stay in Leh.

This will be an easy paced day for acclimatization with visit to the Leh palace and the Shey, Thikse and Hemis gompas by reserved vehicle. O/N stay in Leh.

Post breakfast drive to Likir in reserved vehicle ( Distance : 55 km / Travel time : Approx. 1 hour ). Before arriving at Likir explore the beautiful village of Alchi on foot. On arrival at Likir explore Likir Gompa. O/N camping or homestay at Likir. ( Altitude : Approx. 12,000 feet ).

Trek Day 01
Post breakfast we begin the trek from Likir to Yangthang located at an altitude of 12,150 feet. We shall cross over two high passes Phobe La and Chagatse La this day ( Distance : Approx. 10 km / Trek duration : 4 hours ). O/N camping / homestay at Yangthang. ( Altitude gain : 150 feet ).

Trek Day 02
Post breakfast we begin the trek from Yangthang to Hemis Shukpachan located at an altitude of 11,811 feet. ( Distance : Approx. 10 km / Trek time: 4 hours ). O/N camping / homestay at Hemis Shukpachan. ( Altitude gain : Nil ).

Trek Day 03
Post breakfast we begin the trek from Hemis Shukpachan to Temisgam located at an altitude of 10,600 feet. ( Distance : Approx. 11 km / Trek duration : 4 hours ). On arrival at Timisgam road head depart for Leh by reserved vehicle ( Distance : 90 km / Travel time 2.5 hours ). Arrive at Leh by afternoon. Evening at leisure in Leh Market. O/N stay in Leh.

After early breakfast proceed to the airport for boarding a flight for return journey. Trekking expedition ends.
