Namik Glacier Trek
From dense forests to beautiful meadows, waterfalls, sulphur springs to quaint villages — this trek offers it all. The name Namik Glacier is derived from Namik village, where in the local dialect “Namik” translates to saline water springs. True to its name, numerous waterfalls and sulphur springs originate from this glacier. Namik village was once an important centre of Indo-Tibetan trade. The trail largely follows the Ramganga River through deep forests and rolling meadows, offering stunning Himalayan views. The glacier is surrounded by towering peaks such as Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot, and Trishul. Starting from the picturesque hamlet of Munsyari, the trek passes through Senar Gad meadows, Dhal Auk, Sudam Khan, Hirmani Glacier, and finally Namik Glacier. Trekkers experience a captivating blend of natural beauty, historical significance, and cultural richness. Dense pine and deodar forests, alpine meadows, cascading waterfalls, and therapeutic sulphur springs make this hidden gem a perfect mix of adventure, history, and wilderness.
