One of the reasons for the popularity of this trek is high probability of presence of snow on parts of the trail even during summer!
The trek covers two beautiful valleys in one single hike. The name of this trek is derived from Hampta Village, which lies on the trail to the pass. This pass separates Lahaul’s Chandra Valley and the Kullu valley. Although the length of this trek is just about 26 km, the entire trail offers ever-changing landscape ranging from blooming meadows to semi-arid terrain. Hampta Pass does not pose much of a safety challenge. It is considered to be a pretty safe trek as compared to the other high-altitude treks in Himachal Pradesh.
